New Race Sponsor........ The Port Macquarie Triathlon Festival Committee is pleased to announce its new partnership with SiS as the new naming rights sponsor for the 2010 Half Ironman event. Science in Sport is a UK-based nutrition company that has been dominant in European cycling and sporting events since he came onto the market in 1992. SiS began to arrive in Australia about two years ago, and they are making huge inroads in their distribution network. It is exciting for us to be part of their growth, and we hope that all of you athletes will be able to sample and test their products in your lead up to our event. We are excited about the 2010 race, and we will be updating this site with some of the changes that we plan to implement. Registration will open on March 1, 2010, or possibly sooner. Please bookmark this site for all of the latest news and information on course changes. Thank you.

Hey all, Just a quick one, Had my first win yesterday at the Maitland Triathlon and Multisport Festival against a hot field including Tim Reed, Adrian Cominnotto, Chris Dimitrieff, Richard Munro, and more. The race was a 'mid distance' triathlon including a 1.5km swim, 55km ride and 12km run. I had a great swim, coming out on the feet of Cominotto, and with Reed in tow we quickly set about riding away from the other guys. The pace was super fast, and Adrian dropped back to the main group at about 10km while Reedy and I continued to ride hard at the front of the race. We could see the main bunch at the turn arounds and seemed to be putting some time into them so we kept the heat on. I was feeling great so with about 6km to go I attacked pretty hard up a climb of about 500m and managed to open up a gap on Reed, so i kept my foot down and by the time I got to transition the gap was at 1 minute. I started the run in front and still felt fantastic, and I found a rhythm very quickly as I continued to feel very comfortable and extend my lead on all the other guys. At the end of the 12km run I had a pretty comfortable lead, and was really happy with how I felt all day. Things are looking really good for me in the lead up towards the Port Macquarie Half Ironman in 3 weeks time. I was 2nd to Tim Berkel at this race last year, and can't wait to race him again in front of all my mates and family at home. Better watch your back mate! I am racing the Gunnedah ProTour event in 2 weeks time which will be a lot of fun and a good chance for another hit out before the Half Ironman. I hope everyone is healthy and happy, Mitch
